In real-time trading systems, a fraction of a millisecond dictates the difference between profit and loss. Scaling data streams with Apache Kafka requires specialized tuning of partition allocation, buffer sizes, and compression codecs.

Reducing Pipeline Latency

Standard Kafka configurations prioritize throughput over latency. To pivot toward extreme low-latency processing, we disable batching, set buffer limits to zero, and utilize uncompressed, raw binary serialization schemas such as Protocol Buffers or FlatBuffers.
